CHAPTER: BNI ALBATROSS
PROJECT MANAGER: Federica Silvano
STARTING EVENT: 13/03/2018
SCHOOL ADOPTED: Comprehensive School G. Ferrari
CITY: Vercelli
PEOPLE INVOLVED: Massimo Osenga

Purpose

To offer families a path of reappropriating and strengthening of their role, as well as the acquisition of skills and competences that make the exercise of their educational activity more effective. In particular, the project proposes the support of parenting skills, through informative and psychoeducational interventions, structured not so much and not only in terms of risk reduction in case of already problematic or pathological situations, but, rather, in terms of primary prevention and opportunity to develop the potential (even residual) of which the parental relationships are carriers.

Project structure

The project was drafted in the school year 2016/2017. It was the hub of the Business Voices – Ferrari Institute partnership, helping to ensure that the latter could access regional funds for a total of 45,000 euros (the announcement, in fact, required the school to establish a partnership with two realties on the territory).

The interventions are intended as addressed to the families of the students attending all the schools belonging to the Istituto Comprensivo Ferrari (Kindergartens, Primary Schools, First Level Secondary Schools), but they also saw the participation of the teachers, who then declared the interest of future interventions specifically dedicated to teachers themselves.

The intermediate beneficiaries of the project are the families and the educational institution: educational facilities among which we intend to create a bridge, to achieve mutual support; the final beneficiaries are the students. Each school year examines three specific themes; in particular, in the school year 2017/18:

1) Effective dialogue: towards constructive, containing and structuring communication;
2) “Digital natives”: journey through the understanding of motivations and meanings of the use of technologies in families and among the youngest – Risks of an unaware use of the network and strategies to face them;
3) Between permissiveness and rigidity: food for thought for the preparation of a facilitating educational context.

Each meeting provides a frontal communication of about an hour + about 30 minutes reserved for public interventions.
